“Lost worlds,” while looking for a way to approach this prompt, I accidentally got inspiration from an image I saw on the Internet. The image was a photo of an old ” 골목길( Golmokgil).” 골목길(Golmokgil) is a narrow pathway between houses. If interpreted in English, it is similar to an alley.
My childhood, in the 1970s, South Korea was economically difficult at that time. It was a time when parents worked hard to get out of poverty for a better future. At that time, the children would gather in the Golmokgil outside the gate and play various games all day long.  I was like that too.  It functioned like a playground.

However, as Korea’s economy developed gradually, many developments were made and cities were created, so these old Golmokgil gradually disappeared.  As if the memories of childhood are slowly forgotten…
So this prompt “Lost worlds” is going to work with the contents of an old Golmokgil.

  1. These memories from your childhood definitely take me back to my childhood on a farm with the outdoor life. No playground, but swings in trees and softball in the front yard where the tractors turned around. The climbing apparatus was the machinery, when my dad wasn’t around. Thanks for the memories.

  2. Childhood was a blessing for each of us, and yes, difficult days and hard times were all around. We larned in our own ways to grow and love the memories. I am so keen to see where your art takes you on this journey bak, Eunhee.

Tell us what you think.
