The Struggle Of 2020
Mikiko Takase December 29. 2020
Portions of the Japan economy faltered in 2020 because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The government launched a domestic travel campaign called “Go To” to stimulate the economy. The government would pay 35% of the price of inns so travelers could visit resorts and hot springs around the country. What a great idea!
However, due to the movement of people beyond their homes, the number of patients with the Corona Virus increased dramatically. The campaign was suddenly stopped. Canceled.
Humans are used to finding ways to compromise. Society is compromise. Sometimes humans have even been able to compromise with nature to change the course of a river or to prevent landslides. Unfortunately, nature does not always allow compromise. A pandemic can be either live or die.
May humans find victory this time. May a vaccine safely protect us from Covid-19.
The story you share here is surprising. We didn’t know. Knowledge and understanding of the plans that failed with Covid-19 will help save our friends and family. Your story beautifully shared here does just that.
I’m hoping for a victory, too. I miss traveling. Travel is important for so many reasons, not just to keep the economy afloat, but to open minds and hearts. I can’t wait to see what you create for the compromise prompt.
