I thought it would be a good time for a recap of what this group is about.  We take turns proposing a theme for each of our quilts.  We have overall themes for each approximately two year round of work.  Beginning in 2017, all of our themes were UNUSUAL.  If you look at the galleries for Round one, you’ll find work on the following topics:

During Round two, we chose COMMUNITY as our overarching theme.  The specific prompts included:

Wow, we’ve been busy!  And now we are in Round three, with an overall theme of STRUCTURE.  So far, we’ve explored:

and  currently, we are working with the structure of cells. 

Human cells are building blocks. They come in all shapes and sizes, and they provide structure as well as many other services to our bodies. Our cells receive energy through respiration.

Our hereditary material is found in our cells.  These powerful though microscopic miracles can make copies of themselves.  We have trillions of them in our body.  It’s all so amazing.

A cell could also be a very small room, or a honeycomb compartment.  It could be a small group of people. So many possibilities. 

I’m well on my way to finishing my cell quilt.  I don’t have time to count all the pieces in it, but it seems like at least billions.
