Janine Ibbini
Embracing imperfection has highlighted a wonderful way to let go of my perfectionism
Liberation -A way to let go and let the process of creating happen by almost by itself
To go with the flow
I began this piece by taking a box of forgotten pieces of mistakes from dying and dye painting sessions
Pieces of fabric that were mistakes
Definitely not A or B fabrics
More likely E fabrics
There was also some pieces of drop cloth that I had used on my printing table
I pinned them on my Design wall
And looked at them many times over many days
Then I began to look with new eyes, I could see shadows of trees and leaves in the blobs and the marks on the fabric
And
So A Garden Emerged

Dimensions 40.5” x 25”
Materials and techniques
Hand dyed fabric. Hand dyed and transfer dye printed polyester cotton. Collage. Machine stitched. Hand stitched.
An interesting creation with layers built up through the different media. It’s 3-dimensional the way a natural garden is. Great imagery in cloth!!
I love it when mop-up rags become objects of great beauty!
What a wonderful use of mistakes and rejects! Thank you.
Beautiful garden, Janine! Moving through your garden is a special treat, and the trees, leaves and shadow design play – amazing!
Janine, a great idea, I love it
