I looked at the prompt of Eco-systems and initially struggled for any idea before remembering to flick through my photos again from my Canada-USA trip in 2019 and sure enough there was the idea. We went to Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. Fortunately had a car so that we could drive around. We wanted to go to Niagara on the Lake then back to the falls in daytime. This was fortuitous as we passed a Butterfly Conservatory on the way so we popped in!
It was glorious colour everywhere. Set in a beautiful garden inside a large dome was the most amazing array of plants abd butterflies everywhere. There are over 2000 butterflies flying around and they immediately land on or near you as you enter. You walk through exoctic tropical plants of all colours and around a pathway that leads you to a waterfall, ponds, different plants and the breeding programme. You look up and you see different varieties of butterflies everywhere.
I was particularly enamoured with the Blue Morpho and a brown butterfly with wonderful markings on its wings. I then realised it was one and the same. When they had their wings closed they camouflaged beautifully with the trees then they would fly off and the blue on top of their wings would jump out at you.
It was a prvilege tp be able to share the space with these exoctic beauties and for them to have a climate in which to thrive in.
