Reason to Celebrate?
My wife and I recently returned from a trip to Egypt and Dubai. I was so excited about visiting the New Egyptian Museum! I had planned to spend one entire day there. However……the day we had scheduled to go, a very important diplomat was visiting the museum……so…..we were stuck on the highway for hours as they closed the highway while he was in the museum and then by the time we got moving again….the museum was closing soon and I only got to see the main exhibit which was King Tut…..which I had seen 50 years ago when it travelled to Toronto. Very disappointing to say the least! We visited the Pyramids, the Temple of Karnac and the Sphinx. We had a lovely cruise down the Nile and then moved on to Dubai. Dubai was like being in an episode of The Jetsons! Beautiful peaceful country and unbelievable architecture! We visited the world’s largest Mall…..1200 stores and my wife and I got separated for over an hour. After sending the tour bus back to the Hotel, we managed to find each other and took a cab back to the Hotel. Stuck in traffic again! Returning home to Toronto we were greeted with a massive snow storm and sat in the runway for an hour while they plowed and then waited another hour for our luggage! Getting home and realizing we paid too much money for the things we purchased was a lesson learned!
Can you spot the window washers?

Celebrate! Yes……one week after returning home Iran was attacked as was Dubai. It was a trip of a lifetime for sure but we are definitely celebrating our lovely life .

I’m so glad you were able to enjoy the Middle East. It is a region of rich ancient culture and heritage. I had to laugh about your adventure in Dubai Mall. I lived in the UAE for 21 years and always parked in the same spot there so I could find my car again. I knew exactly how to walk to the bookstore – much larger than it is now, the aquarium and adjacent Candylicious, and get out to the dancing fountains. Anywhere else and I got turned around. Glad you even got to have that experience.
Wow! What a timely journey and visit. Once your thoughts have settled, the creative outlook will bring us some beautiful artwork.
Glad you got back safely. Things are out of our hands sometimes.
Ahhhhhhh. Good timing. Sounds like a wonderful trip, except for the museum visit. Such a great mix of history and a look forward!
