What could be more fun than living in a colourful house! We have all seen the colourful houses on the slanted streets of San Francisco or the brightly painted houses in Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. Living in the Niagara Area, we too have our “Painted Ladies” . This historic neighborhood is located on the shores of Lake Ontario in Grimsby only an hour’s drive from Toronto and about 25 minutes from Niagara Falls. You can wonder through the area and explore the adorable cottages that are proudly on display. Many of these historic homes predate 1945, and several have been protected as significant cultural heritage resources under the Ontario Heritage Act.

I have created my own “painted lady” using brightly coloured fabrics , raw edge appliqué and machine stitching.

  1. Your stitching and fabric choices really make your painted ladies sing. Add Ontario to the bucket list!

  2. Great good fun, Al… and the softly layered colour changes in your choice of cloth and stitch… beautiful! LOVE the background and story!
