Thinking about coins, I remembered my years working as a teller at a Savings and Loan.  I spent plenty of time counting both coins and bills, and I became very quick on an adding machine!  

Focusing on coins, I pulled out several polka dot like fabrics, and then elected to make lots of small circles. Perhaps I was influenced in my design by logs,

. . . or yo-yo’s,

. . . or our pool tiles,

. . . or by our shower curtain. 

I was given some various colors of wool yardage, and thought of penny rugs . . .  My idea was to make many circular units combining the wool circles and dots –

I could stitch a few each day and carry them with me when I traveled or had to wait somewhere. 

 I planned to connect them with thread stitches and hang them in long triangles like this beautiful art piece I saw in Savannah in June. 

To stiffen the wool, I added a crinoline circle to each one. 

My plan to hang them failed, when the long triangles curled inward. 

I decided to stitch each circle to a quilted background for stability.  I was delighted to see the blog posts about the Canadian coins and the Euro, which resemble some of my homemade ‘coins’.

コインについて考えながら、貯蓄貸付組合で窓口係として働いていた頃のことを思い出しました。コインと紙幣の両方を数えるのに多くの時間を費やし、加算機の使い方がとても速くなりました。コインに焦点を当てて、水玉模様のような生地をいくつか取り出し、たくさんの小さな円を作ることにしました。 おそらく、私のデザインは丸太、ヨーヨー、プールのタイル、シャワーカーテンから影響を受けたのでしょう。私はさまざまな色のウールの生地をもらい、ペニーラグを思いつきました…。ウールの円とドットを組み合わせて円形のユニットをたくさん作るというアイデアでした。毎日いくつか縫い、旅行中やどこかで待たなければならないときに持ち運ぶことができます。私は、6月にサバンナで見たこの美しいアート作品のように、糸で縫い合わせて長い三角形に吊るすつもりでした。ウールを固めるために、それぞれにクリノリンの円を追加しました。 吊るすという私の計画は、長い三角形が内側に丸まったため失敗しました。安定性のために、各円をキルトの背景に縫い付けることにしました。カナダのコインとユーロに関するブログ投稿を見て、私の手作りの「コイン」に似ていることに気付きました。 コインの数 手作業による組み立て、手刺繍、手作業によるアップリケ、機械によるキルトの背景 ウール、コットン、レーヨンの生地
