When I was young, before I was married, after work, I would ride the bus, to night classes at college

I used to daydream on the journey, sitting on the top deck where I had a good view along the way

I’d dream about what the future might hold for me

Never in my wildest dreams did I dream the life that I have now

I’ve dreamed about travelling to distant places

I have travelled to some amazing places, on on memorable trips, such as, textile tours to Japan and India, A Hiking trip in Peru, 3 weeks exploring Myanmar. To name a few

Then, my father became ill, he no longer was able to travel to UAE to spend the winter months with us. I began to travel home to the UK to support and spend time with my father, also to enable my sister to some respite

When I began my art quilting journey, I dared to dream one day my work would be exhibited

This dream has become a reality and I have participated in many exhibitions

However, I didn’t dream I would send a piece of my work to an exhibition across the world.

Eventually, after many weeks, having to face the reality, the piece is lost and would never be returned.

Sometimes dreams work out, beyond our expectations

And sometimes dreams come true in totally different ways than we imagined

There’s a saying” be careful what you wish for…”

As the earth spins and tips us into a New Year, I wish all of you a blessed and joyful 2026

  1. The dream of quilt traveling the world is wonderful ,but it’s sad to think that your work is traveling alone somewhere.

  2. Oh, I am sorry your piece was lost. I have heard stories of quilts coming home to their owners long after they seem to have vanished. I hope that is the case with yours and it comes home this year in perfect condition! I love that so many of your other dreams have come true. XO
