The challenge of “cells” was a difficult path for me. I saw the limitation in animal, human and plant cells. Which one do I continue with. What am I going to portray.
Finally, I chose the general theme of cells. I wanted to put my feeling about cells in the quilt. With the naked eye, you can’t see cells. But what if you look through the layers? I have tried to capture what you think you see in dust.

So first a rag painted. Often I paint 2 rags, then I can choose the most beautiful one for the front and at the same time I also have a suitable back.
My preference was green/blue. This time I wanted to make a square quilt.
Ik opted for a tight design. With a commercial fabric, which I found super beautiful, and had been in the closet for a long time, I was extremely satisfied. I tried multiple options.

When the summit was ready, it was time for the Bernina longarm machine. With many different yarns, always in the right color, I quilted the shape that I saw in the fabric. In the other places I quilted rounds and rectangles. After finishing, I looked for a connection between the square and the background fabric.

With paintsticks I applied color to create depth. Finally, the trick is not to continue decorating for a long time. I always ask myself the question, when is it enough and when is it too much.
All in all a difficult but instructive road thanks to Dörthe-Ina Liebing.
