I have always disliked masks. They make me feel so claustrophobic and despite attempts to join in all the fun, I just never could do it. Although I do remember being an obsessive Batman fan and wearing a costume for a long time with a great black cape. I loved how the cape would fan out while I rode my bike for hours around the neighborhood. I wore a fabric mask though so maybe it’s actually just the plastic I don’t care for.
So this piece is a reminiscence of the happy times in childhood when I did wear a mask. Go all the girls who wanted to be Batman!
Many thanks to all the artist who have participated in this group with me. I am genuinely sad to go. I will miss you but celebrate your continued growth in the next few years as I watch from afar. I will be renovating an old home and making a place for a new studio within it and taking some classes at a local art college.
My piece is unquilted but I will finish it up soon!
