A new challenge for the project with the theme “Change of Mind”.
In this work I have changed my thoughts several times.
Normally, when I have a new theme, I start with a new quilt.
This time I did it differently inspired by the book, “Double Vision Quilts”
by Louisa L. Smith, I made a quilt called “Mothballs” a long time ago.
Now I’ve made a second version with a totally different look.
I’ve always been looking for a change.
1. No busy traditional fabrics, now dyed fabric
2. No cotton, now bed sheet and silk
3. No bright colours, now two colours
4. Not the whole quilt the same pattern, now variations
5. Not a traditional version, now art quilt.
I have consciously changed my opinion or thoughts many times.
A few elements have remained the same, including the depth.
The end result is surprising.
Dimensions: 39″ x 25″
Material : cotton, silk
Technique : hand dyed fabric, application
Stunning use of color Elfriede this piece invites you into it. I’d love to see this in person!
Of course I’m prejudiced, but I like the second one, that is, the ART QUILT so much better! Great take on the theme. I love the composition, the color — everything!
Bold and beautiful, your artwork is dynamic, Elfriede. The depth of colour, stitch, design, and movement of the elements is most inspiring!
