Thank you, Deb for such a flexible prompt! Here’s Saltwater Taffy – a very flexible treat that reminds me of the cool ocean breeze, wide sandy beaches, and summer fun. I loved standing in front of the candy shop window watching the confectioner pull and stretch, fold, pull and stretch, fold. Again and again to create a flexible, pliable, stretchy, gooey treat.
Here’s the piece in progress. I always use strings to define the area of the piece, then fill in using sets of strip-pieced fabrics. I used a larger portion of blue, black and white to make the piece cohesive. Once I was satisfied with the composition, I sewed it all up. And as always, my amazing husband did the matchstick quilting for me.
