There are “Seven Lucky Gods” of good fortune in Japan.

They evolved over time from the beliefs of many countries along the Silk Road;

India,China,Tibet,the Middle East and Far East.

They are an international blend of many Peoples and religions.

I wanted to make human faces.

I looked at cloth and could see faces appearing in the patterns.

I made seven faces and covered them with more layers of cloth to become masks.

The seven masks differ in appearance from each other as do the people of different countries.

May the masks offer all people peace and happiness.
