As soon as the prompt of Sound was announced my mind went to sound waves. I love the repeat patterns and lines created by the variations and wanted to replicate them in fabric.
My work is a graphic representation of multiple waves all overlapping and probably creating a very discordant noise.
Process
-
Mistyfuse was fused onto a piece of hand painted fabric
-
Fabric was cut into 1/4″ strips
-
Strips were laid onto a Goddess Sheet (teflon sheet) and then shapes were peeled off.
-
Hand dyed fabric was used as the background
-
Individual units were also created and overlaid
-
Quilting of the background was done in 1/4″ lines with variegated Aurifil cotton and wave like quilting was done in a grey thread
