I have not really left my home for nearly 3 months of this Corona virus quarantine, yet each day I connect with friends, I collaborate on projects, I check on the well-being of those I love and miss and I keep up with what is happening around the world. My communities, near and wide-ranging still have the ability to cooperate and share. I think about how much more isolating all this would be if it were happening 30 years ago. The difference, of course, is the internet, that worldwide web that connects, literally, the entire world. You cannot see the connection, but, in my mind’s eye, I see it as threads that cross, recross and connect. like the spider’s web, from which it takes its name. They reach across space connecting individuals and communities, providing the means of communication that enables cooperation and sharing on a scale never before dreamed of. I lived at least two-thirds of my life before the internet existed so I have seen and lived through the greatest change in society of my lifetime, and for me it is nothing short of a miracle.
This project of ours, the Cloth in Common group, is but one cooperative, sharing internet project. So many others have changed my life in ways I couldn’t begin to describe. I know people I would never have known. I have shared my work, my knowledge, my assets and others have shared the same with me. My definition of “community” has expanded to include all of you. It is power, it is heart, it is life, it is yours to create for yourself. The amazing, endless web. . .
The Amazing, Endless Web

Another great use of black in your work. You killed!
The quilting is a perfect compliment to this quilt. I also love your essay. It is so true. I can’t imagine how hard this would all be if we really were in isolation!
I always loved this particular graphic style of yours, what a good idea to visualize the internet this way. Love it!
Terry, your work shares strength, and the recognizable need to be connected. The fact that we have this ability to interact, share our thoughts, and a bit of our world together through the internet is important and in many cases life-sustaining. Beautiful composition and lovely print work and stitch.
Another great work of Fiber art.
And more of your lovely thoughts worded so beautifully. Thanks for sharing both. Love.
You are incredibly talented, both with your art, and with your writing. I am so very honored to know you and count you among my friends. You are truly an amazing woman!
Beautiful quilt. Communication via the Internet is truly amazing. I remember the days of writing a letter, waiting a week for the person to get the letter, and if they wrote back immediately, it would be another week. Cooperation and sharing with our Cloth in Common group wouldn’t be the same without that amazing endless web.
Love your words and story for this piece and our lives right now. I agree that the web is an amazing miracle and this event would surely be way different without it. Love your stamped elements and dots. This is a wonderful pice of art.
