Each trunk of a tree has a different appearance! That makes every tree unique.
This is determined by the type, where it stands, how old it is and the weather influences over the years. Bacteria, animals or people can damage the tree. With every damage, permanent traces will occur. The tree tries to recover again and again.
That sometimes results in beautiful pictures. It is very fascinating to see how many different colors, shapes and structures a tree trunk has.
Each tree tells its own story!
The bark of a tree is located on the outside of the trunk and branches and is the dead outer part of the bark. It consists of cork. The walls of these cells are inaccessible due to deposition in the cell wall of suberin, which is very similar to lignin, which protects the plant from all kinds of external influences, in the form of fungi, bacteria or damage.
Very inspiring for a quilt. Over the course of many years, I have taken a lot of photos.
I never knew what technique I would use. Until I did a workshop with Isabelle Wiessler.

During the corona time, this course was online and for me, that was a very successful change. We made an A4 format. I experimented a lot and made new experiments every time. This is my first step towards bigger work and I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone quite a bit.
Now that it is finished, I am very satisfied with my work. Many more works will follow.

I love the work you put into both the story and the artwork. Wonderful!
Delicate. and yet with the depth of focused study of the tree that inspired, your art tells a story that we can recognize and celebrate as we discover and delight in every aspect.
What a wonderful representation of the textures of tree bark. So tactile. I want to reach through the screen and touch it.
This is beautiful, I love all the details, the dense stitching you used to create the texture and the different textiles you incorporated.
