Today it’s my turn for the blog. Recently I visited the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. I was already curious by the enthusiastic stories of Lisa Walton. The work she made after this fact made a big impression on me. Her source of inspiration was the Sagrada Familia for the theme Buildings.
Now that I have seen it with my own eyes, I can fully understand the fascination for Antoni Gaudi . This man is a genius. His buildings are ingeniously ahead of their time.
In this case, he has partly used nature as a source of inspiration.
If you stand in the basilica, you will see many pillars of different thickness and color. These pillars branch and end in a kind of leaf cover. Horizontal lines that split and become smaller, like in a real forest. You have to see the pictures to appreciate the real beauty. That is in the shadows of the real experience.
Everywhere I saw lines, I couldn’t sleep at night. How I’m going to use that in my work remains a surprise. If it is not at this prompt, then certainly in the next work.
I have seen La Sagrada Familia in person (still under construction!) and the rest of Gaudi’s work in Barcelona. I agree — he is a one of a kind, and a “must see.” Great inspiration for your “lines!”
It’s on my bucket list to see the work of Antoni Gaudi in person. I know it will spark ideas in your mind, and I’m eager to see what develops.
I am excited to see how your travel to Barcelona and time with the actual Gaudi works will be celebrated in your new work, Elfriede. The inspiration – treasure.
Good luck. Inspiration abounds at La Sagrada Familia!
