As I reflect on my piece tonight, which is very late due to me having Influenza A at the end of last month, I am wondering if the timing is right? Revolution normally means a group of people have risen up to enforce political change or you could look at the revolution as one thing revolving around another. There is of course the Industrial Revolution which caused major change in industry.
For me I was thinking about uprisings happening around the world, the bloodshed, the despair but tonight I turn to hope!
I have been watching Pope Francis’s funeral live from the other side of the world and his papacy reminds me of a quiet but strong revolution of my faith and how Pope Francis was there for the people. He did not worry about the financial trappings and so called powers that be. He was interested in the person without the adjectives. It did not matter if they were rich or poor, thin or overweight, disabled or abled, struggling with sexuality or straight. He was worried about the person no matter what adjective they had in front of them. To me this is the most powerful thing we can do – accept the person as a person and don’t let the adjective get in the way. Be kind, be understanding, be accepting.
Surely if we all did this, the world would be a much better place for all and war would disappear? Isn’t it time for personal greed, whether on an individual level or at a country level makes way for looking after everyone on the planet and not just the elite few.
It is time for change and I believe that during his papacy, Pope Francis has quietly begun that revolution and people are responding. Long may it continue.
On another note, I have one more quilt to go in this series and I have found it interesting to see the changes in each quilt over the 11 rounds so far. I started with lime green tones but this one is quite reddish pink. Next reveal I will show them all so you can see the changes reveal by reveal. I have found it fascinating so I hope you do too.
