A change of season is often a transition from slightly warm to warm to slightly cold then slightly cold to cold to slightly warm again. That is in the South Island of New Zealand where we do have four seasons but not the extreme levels of heat or snow in other countries. So it really is a slow change from one season to another.
As the seasons change I struggle with what to wear to either keep warm or to cool down. Particularly as I was going through menopause my temperature was all over the place and I wasn’t sure what to wear one day or the next.
The depth of colour in the photo is a bit darker than in reality but the piece transitions from pink/green through to darker colours with the odd hot colour or dark colour thrown in to represent a sudden change in temperature.
The piece is 40 in tall by 18 in wide and is machine pieced and appliqued. Machine quilted and made of my own hand dyed and painted fabrics.
Your sensitivity to the particular stages of the female body shows in this piece. I love the subtleties of the color range.
Beautiful, Catherine… I see an amazing amount of time spent creating the fabric pieces that have been built into your art! Stunning really – a play on colour, design, shape, and organization of the unique art quilt we see and explore.
