Identity is a tricky prompt. What is your identity? There are many studies about identity which only serve to confuse me further.

There is your personal or self identity which is the way you see yourself and is related to self image, how you feel about yourself. It is a relatively permanent self-assessment, such as personality attributes, knowledge of one’s skills and abilities, one’s occupation and hobbies, and awareness of one’s physical attributes. For instance your choice and style of clothing is an expression of self identity.

Look at fashion icon Iris Apfel for instance. 

Then there is Cultural Identity which is the identity or feeling of belonging to a group. It is part of a person’s self-conception and self-perception and is related to nationality, ethnicity, religion, social class, generation, locality or any kind of social group that has its own distinct culture.

So where do I start – personal or cultural? I’m still thinking.
