While pleased to complete the final piece of Round 2, I am excited about beginning Round 3! With an overarching theme of ‘structures’ I have decided to focus this round on my own country, the structures I see every day or on my travels. Those that have special meaning to me and my life to date or those that have had a significant impact on my country. I think it has wide appeal.
For the first prompt of Faces I struggled for a time but then I thought about the face of my new city post the major rebuilds of the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes that destroyed its very heart building wise but made the community stronger!
I have selected a range of fabrics that I have made and put them aside for the first few works -I know I will have to make some more along the line but these are exciting colours and textures to begin with! I also thought I will make them all the same width so all are the same size of 40in High x 22in wide.
I can’t wait to see what you create. Keeping with the same size will be a challenge, too. Well, it would be for me. Those fabrics are wonderful!
Catherine… this will be an exciting and colour rich series, and I am so ready to learn more about your homeland and the structures that are interesting you as an artist. Love the fact that all will be the same size – solo showing later?
