I saw the story of a woman on a TV documentary show.
The first scene was small town in China where the willow fluff was falling like snow.
She was refugee and settle down there after wondering in the Middle East.
She had supported her family life as a dancer.
This is a tragedy that has been frequent in history and even now, great forces such as war threaten people’s lives.
But people manage to survive the high walls.
The snow like fluff in the first scene is a willow seeds, and they fly far away on the wind and become rooted trees everywhere.
The woman I saw on TV was actually old but I made this piece by imagining when she was a young and beautiful dancer.
I think it’s important for people to be flexible in order to overcome difficulties.

So perfectly beautiful, Mikiko – your story, and commitment that has supported your beautiful work here, is a treasure. I will visit this piece often…..
Mikkiko, what a moving and beautiful story. You have rendered the performance perfectly. Where would we be without fantasy. The snowballs are great and your use of color is super nice.
Beautiful story and quilt
