The prompt Gardens, Parks and Greenspaces gave me an idea right away. I wanted to focus on “pathways.” Your path greatly influences how you experience a green space.

When we first moved onto our rural land 6 years ago, my husband cut a path to my sister-in-law’s house next door. We quickly dubbed it “the nature trail,” a humorous overstatement, and we still enjoy tramping through it. So do the deer and other critters.

I collected pictures of other trails I like to walk, but never captured the exact look I wanted. Until my fiber friend Annie Morris Simcoe posted a picture on her Facebook page of a dirt biker racing down a path. It had exactly the look and contrast I was looking for.  I asked her if I could use it, and she agreed and sent me a high res image.

Meanwhile I had met a local printer who does dye sublimation. This process has to be done on polyester fabric for the dye to take.  I found some 100% white polyester, and had him try some samples. Surprise – although I’m used to working with cotton and other natural materials, I was able to make a sample quilt with no problem.

Here is the final product, “Follow the Path.”

早速、庭園、公園、緑地に思いを馳せました。パスに焦点を当てたかったのです。 6年前に私たちが田舎に初めて引っ越したとき、夫は隣の義姉の家への道を切り開きました。ユーモラスな誇張である「ネイチャートレイル」とすぐに呼びました。私たちはまだそれを踏みにじることを楽しんでいます。鹿や他の生き物もそうです。
歩きたい他の歩道の写真を集めましたが、望んでいたとおりの外観をキャプチャできませんでした。繊維の友達のアニー・モリス・シムコーが彼女のFacebookページにダートバイカーが道を走っている写真を投稿するまで。それは私が探していた見た目とコントラストとまったく同じでした。私はそれを使用できるかどうか彼女に尋ねたところ、彼女は同意して高解像度の画像を送ってくれました。
一方、昇華型の地元の印刷業者に会いました。このプロセスは、染料を使用するためにポリエステル生地で行う必要があります。 100％の白いポリエステルを見つけて、サンプルを試してもらいました。驚き–私は綿やその他の天然素材を使用することに慣れていますが、サンプルのキルトを問題なく作ることができました。 （ビートトラック外、13 x 8.5インチ）
