This has been a fascinating prompt! I thought it would be easy and I would have it done within a few days of it’s reveal. How wrong I was! I changed my vision so many times but then realized that that was also a connection. The first idea didn’t work, but it gave me the second idea, which also didn’t work!

After about four connecting ideas I finally had something I could use. I spent more time thinking about the different connections in my life including family, jobs, friends, hobbies, language which made me realize that we are ALL CONNECTED in some way or another!

How many things do we have that belonged to someone else? I think of family heirlooms like rings, dishes and names. Our genes are probably the biggest connection of all.

I am amazed at how many times I have met someone new and find out that we have many friends in common, or lived on the same street at one time. I once even sat beside someone in a restaurant in Greece who taught my Mother in High School!

Think of something that connects us, like Time. It controls every aspect of our lives….past, present and future! It tells us where we have been, where we are and where we might be going.

Are these my golden years, have I had my best years already or are they still to come? Time will tell!

I used rusted muslin strips on muslin fabric as my background. Added shredded hand made mulberry paper, covered the entire piece with organza then free motion quilted. Gold and copper leaf was added, and the copper scraps were glued on top. I finished off with cogs wheels from a clock. The rust represents the past, the gold is the present and the clock parts are the future.
