Sticking with my original idea of using the inspiration of an old rusting truck being taken over by nature, including a tree growing out of it, I got my photograph printed using dye sublimation, and went to work. Since the image was horizontal, I added some abstracted squares and rectangles in similar “rusting” color to lengthen the image, and started adding bits of fabric and stitching. In addition to the free motion quilting, there is hand embroidery for the berries and vines.

At one point I was very discouraged, and got some advice from a nearby SAQA friend. Together we came up with the idea of ripping out some of the “blocks” above the vehicle which appeared to be pressing down on it. Instead I added some more “sky” and vines, which lightened up the image.

「自然に飲み込まれ、車体から木が生えているような、古びて錆びついたトラック」という当初の着想を活かし、まずは写真を昇華転写プリントして制作に取り掛かりました。元の画像は横長だったため、錆びた鉄を思わせる色合いの抽象的な正方形や長方形を加えて構図を横に広げ、布の断片やステッチを施していきました。フリーモーション・キルティングに加え、木の実や蔓（つる）の部分には手刺繍も取り入れています。
制作中、ひどく行き詰まってしまった時期がありましたが、近くに住むSAQA（Studio Art Quilt Associates）の友人に相談に乗ってもらいました。その際、トラックを押しつぶしているように見えていた車体上部の「ブロック」の一部を取り除くというアイデアを二人で思いついたのです。代わりに「空」の領域と蔓を付け加えたことで、作品全体に軽やかさが生まれました。
