I have always drawn pictures and written short silly stories. I come from a large family with many siblings and cousins. Stories were never ending! Fights between my brothers and sisters seemed to be daily ( all in fun most of the time). My Father was a professional boxing champion in his youth and his boxing stories always came up in family conversations, especially with my uncles when beer was involved! I seemed to be the one who told stories the most. I loved to read and had a prolific imagination.
Throughout my life strange coencidences followed me. Things that I have painted from imagination have appeared in real in some of my travels. For instance I created a tyedyed piece using black linen and bleach. I quilted it and it was accepted in a show. The person who bought it said it reminded them of columns they had seen in India. Years later while visiting India myself….lo and behold….there it was! (see pics below) . But the most eerie thing happened 17 years ago! I have always had an obsession for drawing babies, especially twins. I did several small paintings and drawings of them . I also created a small quilted piece from one of my drawings. It was for sale in a local gallery. The gallery owner thought it would sell , much to my disbelief. After all it was twins in the womb, and why would anybody buy it. My youngest son went away to teachers college and came home for Christmas. When I opened his gift to me….it was the quilted piece of twins! I was shocked. My boys never really talked about my art or even seemed to take interest in it. He told me that he always loved the “ baby things I did” but didn’t want to ask me for one. But if he bought one then he could ask if he could take it home. ( there was another gift for me also) . I was so overwhelmed that he wanted it. It was the best compliment. Two years later he got married and he and his wife had twins! It was meant to be! It still hangs in their home. The girls are now 15 ( and very artistic!)
My Christmas Present

What a beautiful art piece and story! Definitely meant to be.
