Have you ever dreamed that you were flying comfortably in the sky and suddenly fell from it?

I wake up in such horror.

When trying to accomplish something in real life, it is easy to hesitate when thinking about the timing, my abilities, people’s reactions, and the cost.

Life is like a performer juggling on a thin rope.

I also have a shy personality that is common among Japan women.

I have avoided public speaking as much as possible.

However, when I became a member of SAQA, I came across an opportunity to explain my quilt like a gallery talk at SAQA Japan.

At the Houston Quilt Festival last year, I thought it was wonderful to hear the artists explain their works with confidence

It’s a small challenge, but it’s a big dream for me.

  1. Like in Japan, women in Korea often tend to be quiet and hold back from expressing their opinions too openly. Still, I believe that every personality and culture has both strengths and weaknesses. When I met you in Japan last year, you struck me as warm, thoughtful, kind, and truly wonderful. And those are reflected in your beautiful work. Sending much love.

  2. I also share a fear of speaking in public and have had to get better at it through the years so this dream of yours resonates with me as does this art. I appreciate the radiating lines that to me seem to be about projecting voice and sharing ideas!
    Excellent work Micky!

  3. Just today I listened to our video chat from 2021 when we spoke about our Greenspace and International quilts. You were so brave to tell about your work in English, and you did a great job!
This new one is whimsical and wonderful, Micky. ❤️

  4. It takes all types of people to make up the world, and we are probably opposites Mikiko. I am loud and outspoken and feel no fear when talking to large groups of people about quilts. But I love to hear other people talk about their quilt because their view is different to mine and will always bring a new aspect or beauty to the discussion. We both have curiosity about others, so we are perhaps, not so different after all. Your quilt is beautiful and I hope one day to hear you talk about your quilt art.
