I am just so excited about this latest prompt: Building. I have already made a few buildings in my new pieced style, so the opportunity to make a larger building is very appealing to me. Here are some of the small ones.
These were all imaginary buildings, but I have a real favorite building. I call it “my building,” but its official name is The Center (中環中心)
Located in Hong Kong, it was designed by Dennis Lau & Ng Chun Man Architects & Engineers (HK) Ltd. and completed in 1998. While The Center may not be that exciting during the day, at night it comes alive with neon light bars that change colors as they glide to the top of the building.
And I’m a sucker for lights—especially color changing lights. My latest purchase was a couple of color-changing light strips with a remote app for your phone (although I haven’t been able to get it to work yet).
I have lots of blurry photos of my building at night. Someday I’ll actually take a night photo with a tripod on solid ground instead of from the moving Star Ferry. Then again, if I actually create my building in cloth, I might not have to. Check back at the end of January and see if I was successful.
Lucky you going to Hong Kong! Those buildings are so tall, it feels like they should be sinking from the weight. What a busy place it must be!
So exciting, your symbographic building project and this one will be dynamic for sure. Hugely inspiring, and I can’t wait to see!
