As I mentioned earlier in my blog about masks, I hate masks. Coming to think of the theme the past few weeks I didn’t change my opinion. One person can hide behind a mask, or wear several different masks, pretends to be someone else or have a totally different parallel agenda. Of course masks can be funny as well. Or part of a fancy dress. But even then I don’t like being able not to look people in the eye or the face.
For me it’s not only the problem with masks but with everything that covers part of a face. So based on a picture of a standard mask, such as the one Regina used in her blog about Masklike portraits, I wanted to express that even starting with the same mask the outcome is different.
Despite the fact that I don’t like masks, I do like this quilt!
Monoprint with acrylic paint on cotton.
40×40 inch.
