Martha Ressler, Mysteries of Solitude and Joy

In response to the theme “Isolation” I started with a favorite photo by Jay Ressler of an abandoned playhouse built by his uncle for his granddaughter when she was a child. I played with the color and had it printed on fabric. But then cheerful colors called to me, and I added some improvisational piecing. There have been many positives for me about staying home and those feelings found their way into the piece.

  1. Martha this turned out fantastic! I love the hand-tinted color look of the photographs. Combined with the happy colors and shapes in the border make it a lovely piece to explore.

  2. The hauntingly beautiful photos in combination with your colourful improv borders just work so well together. A lovely piece!
