Compromise is the essence of democracy. Democracy needs balance. Intransigence leads to division or fragmentation of the society or, in the worst case, to the demise of democracy. A political compromise often means an imposition for everyone involved. Everyone has to take a step back and be open for other new perspectives.

It also has the advantage that more social groups can be involved in a decision.

Most often It is very long way to get there. Compromises takestime and are tedious, but when they are found, new horizons can open up. As a result, compromises can lead to an overall greater good.

  1. This is a very well done piece, following well along the theme of the project. Even the center “road” appears to be rocky, as often is the case when trying to find a compromise between polar values. Love the dyed fabrics and the images as a composition, too. From the write up, you understand the challenges involved with compromise and democracy well.
