When I first read the prompt, I thought of a tangent, a line that touches a curve in just one point, or a tangent plane to a sphere. It would be fun to try to make a geometry quilt.

Last summer I bought a book by Katie Pasquini Masopust: Artful Log Cabin.

I really like the technique she introduced. I have not made many Log Cabin quilts, but have always liked them.

I decided I wanted to test out her book on this project and use this piece of art for the test.

The book tells to copy the inspiration piece to the size of the quilt, 20” X 15 “, and to make a grid. Since I was a beginner, I used horizontal and vertical lines with even spaces between. That would make 4 X 3 log cabin blocks. I also chose fabric strips of the same width, this was the easiest alternative. My time was limited, since I have been travelling a lot the last two months.

The result is not going to be a copy of the inspiration, but to create an abstraction. One should just try to have the proportion of the colors in every block close to the inspiration.

I really enjoyed to test out this technique, and would like to continue to work with this, and later make the blocks more wonkey.
