For a long time sexton has been a love for islands. I am fascinated how people lived on an island. If the world around you does not yet exist, you have to live with the materials that are available on the island.

Building Bridges

During my visits to different islands, I discovered several things.

On the small German island of Hiddensee, there is no form of fencing at the houses. The green grass around the houses looked very special to me. Not something like, this is mine and that’s yours!

In Croatia we visited a very small island, where almost only rock could be seen. Here it became clear that the former inhabitants were dependent on the catch from the sea.

On the French island of Íle d’Oleron, the earth is very suitable for growing different types of lettuce. You can still see large fields of these vegetables.

There are many examples of what people had to do in the past to survive.

Our world is getting bigger and bigger as it develops.

Or smaller, because of the multimedia.

Almost every island has been discovered and everything can be transported anywhere. Whether by ship, plane or via a bridge. The result is that islands are full of torists, who pollute nature.

And there are people who want to own more and more land. Even if it is at the expense of human lives.

I am in favor of a conversation in peace. Let’s keep building bridges.
