Martha Ressler 5-8

Cathy found me in the back of a drawer in the back on a closet of her cousin, after the cousin died.  She thought I was pretty and took me home.  But I languished there too, because Cathy thought I was too fancy to use.

Cathy gave me to her friend Ann, who agreed I was pretty, but soon realized that she, too, would not use me. Too lacy. Too pretty.

 Ann gave me to Martha.

 Who cut me up.

It hurt at first, but that was quickly overshadowed by the joy of finally getting a place at the table. Enjoying the camaraderie of six friends, serving as their tablecloth and place settings. Sharing with good food and sparkling conversation.

It’s good to finally feel at home.

A story about an abandoned table cloth re-made into an art quilt with faux veggies and fruits and place settings.
