Cathy found me in the back of a drawer in the back on a closet of her cousin, after the cousin died.  She thought I was pretty and took me home.  But I languished there too, because Cathy thought I was too fancy to use.

Cathy gave me to her friend Ann, who agreed I was pretty, but soon realized that she, too, would not use me. Too lacy. Too pretty.

 Ann gave me to Martha.

 Who cut me up.

It hurt at first, but that was quickly overshadowed by the joy of finally getting a place at the table. Enjoying the camaraderie of six friends, serving as their tablecloth and place settings. Sharing with good food and sparkling conversation.

It’s good to finally feel at home.

A story about an abandoned table cloth re-made into an art quilt with faux veggies and fruits and place settings.

Table for Six

40 x 30

Raw Edge applique, trapunto, hand and machine quilting.

    1. Thank you Janine. A writing friend ( human) did help spiff up the writing. But I’ll take credit for telling the story in the voice of the tablecloth!! Haha.

  1. I guess the Shadows are a result of the lighting coming in at 45° angles from either side. And yes, the food is very 3D. Each one is a full size vegetable and then some!

  2. I LOVE the writing and the questions it answers and leaves unanswered! Such a unique idea. The items on the plate are SO 3-dimensional, but the shadows are at different angles. How did you accomplish that?

Tell us what you think.
