The word desert in Arabic is Sahar, a feminine word.
When you see the lines of sand dunes and sand ripples its understandable the root word is feminine.
Being immersed in the desert landscape at sunrise or sunset the lines and shadows cast on the dunes can easily be seen as womanly curves.
Knowing the patterns and lines are shaped by the wind makes them seem magical to me.
When desert driving and navigating through the shifting and rippling surface, its important to know how the cross the dune lines, without getting stuck for what could be hours in the sand!
I recently read an article about how the shifting sand sings in the desert. Now I can hear it and see it!
Love the photo of the desert sands, Janine. I look forward to seeing where you might take the inspiration and knowledge of the travel through the sands into your artwork. Welcome!
