As soon as the prompt, Deconstruct, was released, I knew I had to make another piece using plastic.

I deconstructed plastic bags to use as collage material.

While making this one, I thought about all the plastic in the rivers and oceans.

I see plastic washed up on the beach every day on our morning walks, especially after high winds.

While I’m cutting up the plastic bags I imagine the plastic shapes, as plant forms, floating and flowing in the constant movement in the ocean.

I am endeavoring to make something beautiful from a product we cannot live without in our modern lives. Though I think it’s beginning to haunt us.

Recently, I was gifted a very brief glimpse of a dolphin swimming near to shore and quite close to me

A huge, sleek and shining creature, it surfaced in the waves, it took my breath away.

I exhaled “Ahhhh” as we looked at one another. It was such a beautiful moment.

Impossible to imagine how life must be for such a wonderful creature.

I considered this not only from the plastic point of view.

I also considered the amount of shipping and waste from the ships stuck in the Arabian Gulf for many weeks due to the conflict.

Then there’s the intercepted missile debris, also falling into the sea.

What a world, I could cry!
