This new prompt opens up so many opportunities and could be looked at in so many different ways. Is it a change from Summer to Autumn, a change from daylight to dark, a change in a persons behaviour from calm to angry, or is it purely a change in colour as per my photo whereby you take red and yellow and create the colour orange?

This photo is a snippet of a larger work of mine called “Exploring Colour” where I used the primary colours to create secondary ones on the idea that many years ago people did not travel and this created a sense of fear / interest about anyone who was foreign and came to your shores. Over time as people have travelled the different races have intermarried and had children and as a result created a more harmonious colour and appreciation of the differences of different cultures, types of people etc. Over the coming centuries as the cultures/colours continue to intermingle we are likely to be one. Imagine a world where we all accept each other? This prompted my piece Migration as shown below.

Exploring Colour was the original piece that led to Migration. I love the way the colours mix and mingle to create a third colour which is often not as stark and more harmonious than the original two colours. Now to think about how I will address changing colours in the round 4 series I am creating?

  1. Your Migration art is lovely. And the color gradations quilts are beautiful too. Your stitching lines make the pieces flow so well.

  2. Catherine, your art is beautiful. The colour and design in both shared here are so intriguing and wonderful. Harmony is a great connection in the world of colour, along with the connections and intermingling that is focused into our artwork.
