We artists thoughtfully consider color in our work, knowing that specific colors can inspire emotions.  Seeing red, feeling blue, green with envy, joyful, sunny yellow – are all in our repertoire.

We can also use color to push and pull space, knowing that warm colors appear to advance and cools recede.  We can further manipulate space using various intensities and values of colors.

Opposite colors are often used in advertisements because of their ability to grab your attention. Keep an eye out for the end of May, when each of the artists in Cloth in Common will reveal their take on the topic of color change.  I imagine many dye pots have been in use on this theme!

  1. You are so right, Karol… the dye pots have been busy! The world around us is changing so quickly now, with changing weather, gardens blooming, fall to winter approaching overseas. Fascinating art to come! (I love your beautiful art shared here…)

Tell us what you think.
