The prompt for the next Cloth in Common round is the verb: DECONSTRUCT (ION) (ED) which means:
1) to break something down into its separate parts in order to understand its meaning, especially when this is different from how it was previously understood
2) to take something apart like an object or a garment to see how it was put together
3) or for me to deconstruct screen print fabric as per the image above where I love watching what happens as the print past deconstructs.
There are many ways this theme can be interpreted under our create/Inspire theme so I look forward to the reveals come the end of July.
I’ve learned I need to read the new concepts at least twice, because my brain trips on a keyword and goes flying off in a direction, without finishing. I even grab my iPad and sketch a whole design. more often than not. Then I inevitably drift back to finish reading, only to find that my direction perhaps wasn’t the right one. I have to start over. I have three sketches now and have started on the third. It has taken me down a completed unexpect path, and will give me the chance to step outside my comfort zone. Thank you for the nudge!
I look forward to seeing what your beautiful fabrics will be transformed into. I think that destruction can be another aspect of creation, I find myself inspired to start planning my next work.
