Kintsugi is a traditional technique that has been around since the Muromachi period in Japan.

It is a technique to repair cracked or chipped pottery using lacquer and metal powder.

Nowadays, “Kintsugi” is attracting attention not only in Japan but overseas.

It’s not only repair broken vessels by gluing them together so they can be used again, but also restores the beautiful art without hiding the seams.

The unique Japanese aesthetic sense of Wabi-Sabi is hidden in this technique of lovingly changing the vessels that are engraved with memories and history.

  2. Elfriede, you remind us that the art of restoration is truly a step toward the mastery of bringing the broken closer to the repaired…the forsaken brought together again. Wabi Sabi – “the elusive beauty of imperfection”. Thank you…
