Jacque Davis has a long history in the textile arts beginning in the late 80’s when she learned traditional quilting, followed by many years weaving fine laces. In 2000 her work evolved to the creation of the cloth used in her textile works. Her methods include dyeing, color removal, and the creation of imagery using photography and digital methods to create bold vibrant cloth enhanced by intricate stitching.

Her work has traveled to many juried exhibits, won numerous awards, and has been purchased for private collections throughout the United States and Europe.

A longtime focus of her work has been the symbolic language of dreams. This interest was sparked during her childhood when she experienced sometimes frightening repetitive dreams. She began a formal education in psychology, dream studies and hypnotherapy. She earned a Bachelors degree and began working with clients.

She believes there is a connection between the dreamer and the artist that guides the creation of art across all art mediums.

Her longtime love of color, texture and stitch is evident in her richly colored and densely stitched art. She teaches many of her techniques to students in her home studio. She has studied with many art cloth experts and has completed a two and a half year Art Cloth Mastery Program in San Antonio, TX taught by Jane Dunnewold.

She has worked as a Gallery Director and Art Programs Facilitator teaching a variety of art methods to adults and children.

Recently moved from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest she is thrilled to be back amongst the mountains, ocean and the greens of winter.

  1. Good Morning thank you for the warm welcoming messages. I am delighted to be here! My new studio is together enough to sew although the temporary sewing table is a bit challenging when art catches on the edge causing large stitches during free motion quilting. Soon enough the sewing cabinet will arrive and I’ll be back to a flat sewing surface. Still I am thrilled to be working again! Thank you again I appreciate your comments!

  2. Welcome, Jacque! We are so very excited to have you with us at Cloth in Common… and there is e much to learn from you along the way!
