When we first began Round Two with the general theme of community, neighborhood was the word that first popped into my mind.

I thought for sure, this would be the first and most obvious prompt, but there were no takers.

And now, it is all mine.

So our fourth prompt for round two is Neighborhood.

According to Wikipedia, “A neighborhood is a geographically localized community within a larger city, town, suburb or rural area. Neighborhoods are often social communities with considerable face-to-face interaction among members.

Researchers have not agreed on an exact definition, but the following may serve as a starting point: ‘Neighborhood is generally defined spatially as a specific geographic area and functionally as a set of social networks. Neighborhoods, then, are the spatial units in which face-to-face social interactions occur—the personal settings and situations where residents seek to realize common values, socialize youth, and maintain effective social control’.”

I also personally think of neighborhood as the wilderness, yards, or acres that compose the area we live in, but perhaps you think about it differently?

Let’s see what happens.

What is your idea of neighborhood?
