This prompt reminded me of the song Shame, Shame, Shame from the disco era nearly 50 years ago. See https://clothincommon.com/earworm/ for a bit of disco history and more about Shirley &Co.’s song. The song Shame, Shame, Shame reminded me of other popular disco songs and as I was making this quilt I was thinking of the lyrics, the beat, the psychedelic colors, the sparkly disco ball that hung in the center of every dance hall, the peace symbol, and Travolta’s signature Point Move – all iconic reminders of the disco era of the 1970s.

  1. Kudos to you for going to a happy place with this theme! When I read your earlier post about the song, thought I knew what it was and had it going around in my brain for a day, until I realized that I was humming “chain, chain, chain. . .” And I had to consult YouTube for the shame song. So thank you for TWO ear worms! Your wonderful quilt has such a great sense of movement and freedom!

    1. And now I have the chain chain chain earworm. 🙂 Thanks for your lovely comments. I sometimes wonder how these surreal creatures come out of my head!

    1. Thanks Deb – and thanks to you and Kris for etymology of earwig. I had no idea! And yes, the platform shoes, bell bottoms, halter tops…a different era.

    1. Thanks Regina! It was fun using all those bold colors on the black. A great advantage of a group like CiC is getting outside our comfort zones.
