I love water as prompt. I have made several quilts in the past that refence water.

I don’t know what water I will actually make this quilt about, but I have been thinking about the McCarthy Creek. Our cabin in McCarthy, Alaska is just a short walk from McCarthy Creek.

She is a miss named river. This past summer, we had heavy rains for all of August.

I was there when the rains started. After I left, our neighbors sent many pictures so that we could monitor the creek’s creeping into town.

Pilots documented the story too. In this photo, you can see two water stories happening.

The first is about the beavers in McCarthy. They are buidling damns and contaminating our primary source of water. Damn those beavers. Their work is what is happening across the middle of the photo.

The rest of it is McCarthy Creek’s story.

It is not the first time, she has changed her mind and changed her course. The McCarthy Area Council and our neighborhood will have to come up with a long term plan.

It is not possbile to live under a creek.

Tell us what you think.
