For me, Spain is and remains a very inspiring country.
During our holidays we were introduced to “La Rambla”.
They are originally dry revier beds. In case of heavy rain, they lead the rainwater from the mountains to the sea.
But because it rains very little in Spain, you sometimes do not recognize this roadbed as a tourist.
It often happens that the police send people away because they want to spend the night there. The Spaniards also do not handle these revierbeds well. You often see debris and other waste discharged in these places.
The world is changing, no one will have missed that. Heavy rainfall is the case. Then this dry revier bed transforms into a swirling revier.
I have recorded this fact in my work. I used Lutradur, a beautiful material. Painted in the desired color, you can work it very well with the heatgun. A beautiful structure is created. I stitched the yellow fabric with gold thread. That was always difficult, because the wires often snapped. With the right yarns and the right top thread tension, that’s a party.
Dimensions: 40″ x 36″
Material: cotton hand dyed, lutradur, gold threads
Technique: long arm padded, melted with heat-gun
I can see the sparkle from your metallic threads. Very interesting effect from melting the Lutradur. I’m especially drawn to this piece because my high school colors were purple and gold!
