As Textile Artists fabric is one of the mediums we use.

There are many ways to transform and alter fabric.

One way is to take a piece of white fabric and transform it with dye, either natural or chemical.

Altering the whiteness by making marks, by printing, by folding or scrunching it in a way that will result in a pattern on the cloth. Painting, bleaching, burning or slashing are all ways we can alter the surface.

Folding fabric around leaves and flowers or twigs, and wrapping the bundle around a stick or copper pipe, then cooking it in a basket over boiling water for an hour can produce some wonderful prints.

The fabric transforms into an interesting surface that can be cut up, stitched into and changed in many ways

Whichever way we choose to change the fabric, we really have no idea how the fabric will eventually turn out, until it is dried and ironed.

The results are random no matter how carefully we prepared.
