On April 25th New Zealand and Australia commemorate ANZAC Day remembering those who paid the ultimate price for their service in all wars since and including World War 1. It is a special day for me as my dad served in WWII and was lucky enough to come home as were his 3 brothers. Dad did lose a leg, but this never stopped him from doing anything throughout his life.

On ANZAC Day we visited his grave and thought about how he came home and his friends didn’t. They thought they were going to save the world and even though what they experienced was hideous, they thought at least people would understand and agree that never again should this happen.

However, we all now know that history repeats and repeats itself. Instead of saving the world we have greedy men who destroy it. They do not care about the bombs and the impact on the planet; they do not care about the innocent lives that are lost and they also don’t care about the soldiers they send into war. All they care about is money and their own egos.

How can we change this? That’s a difficult question to answer. In some countries we can vote them out but in others they are dictators. How do we get a groundswell of opposition to them that can make a difference? We can start by doing our own little bit each day in the hope it will change.

Tell us what you think.
