Whether it is waking or ending our days with the beauty of a sunrise/sunset – the opportunity to see what lies outside our windows is often how we seek and follow the light each day.  Light is so important as we move through our days, and for some, so deeply missed.

In some spaces around our world, the cold and stark wonderment of a winter’s day is calming and gives us solace, knowing that the days and weeks are leading to spring and the hope for warmth.  

Thinking about how I might share light in my work tends to lead me to the out of doors and what is sitting there in the back of my mind as I wonder about what’s next. Will there be art created with memory, and will the vision come from what I have seen?

Is imagination and thinking of what might be shared here my focus and will those thoughts take me on a ‘dream’ adventure?

I think of how I would miss the opportunity to walk into a hundred-plus-year-old building like the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum in Almonte ON, and see the lights focused on the amazing artwork of my friend, Penny Berens from Nova Scotia, exhibiting along with Judy Martin, Ontario artist, as they shared their art ‘IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WORLD’.

Without the lights, darkness in the old handmade, historical building would hinder seeing the beauty of each piece of exquisite artistry, carefully focused within the softly lit gallery. Lights gave each viewer a chance to stay by, study, and drink in the beautiful work.

As I move through my planning days these two months before the next reveal and think about how I might share my own feelings on the impact and value of LIGHT. And I think about the small wonders that we oftentimes overlook.
